What this app does

Vanilla Vouchers lets a Shopify store issue gift vouchers that can be limited to specific brands, collections or products, deliver them by email, and let customers keep them in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet with a live balance.

What we store

• Voucher records: code, value, remaining balance, expiry, what it can be spent on, and the ledger of orders it was used on.
• Customer contact details for each voucher: name and email address (needed to send the voucher and, when the merchant locks a voucher to its owner, to check it at checkout). We do not store addresses, phone numbers or payment details.
• Order references: the order number and the amount a voucher paid towards it, plus the qualifying spend that earned a voucher under the merchant's program rules.
• Wallet registrations: an anonymous device identifier and push token when a customer adds a pass to Apple Wallet, so the balance on the pass can be updated.
• Store settings: plan, programs, branding and email templates.

How we use it

Only to run the voucher service for the store that installed the app: issuing, redeeming, emailing and updating wallet passes. We never use this data for our own marketing, never sell it, and never combine it across stores.

Where data lives

Data is processed and stored on Cloudflare's global network (Workers, D1, KV and R2), encrypted in transit and at rest. Emails are sent through Mailgun (EU region). Wallet passes are delivered through Apple's and Google's wallet services; the pass itself carries only the voucher code, balance, expiry and the store's branding.

Retention and GDPR

• Customer erasure: on a Shopify customer-redact request we remove the name, email and personal note from that customer's vouchers and delete their spend history. Codes and balances are kept because they are the store's financial liability records.
• Data access: on a customer data request the merchant can export that customer's vouchers from the app.
• Store erasure: when the app is uninstalled, Shopify sends a shop-redact notice about 48 hours later and we permanently delete everything held for that store.
